How To Choose

By forming a Go Bag you will undertake the task of finding tech or non-tech workarounds to solve day-to-day needs without the internet. When choosing tech, you have to both know about what’s available and what will work in your local context.

“Context matters.” —DSA Leader

Who should be involved in choosing?

A focus group of 6-8 individuals representing the perspective of the networks of people you or your organization support, and living or working in the locations affected by internet outages. They should be individuals that live in the locations the technology is assessed for; and have both experiential knowledge of the context and awareness of the digital reality and situations faced by the people they support.

In this process, we will look at both the functional aspects of tech in the local context and social realities. You will need 1-2 facilitators for this process.

You will use 3 activities to guide you in making choices about which tech to include in your Go Bag.

  1. Value Setting

  2. Simulated Testing

  3. Tech Review
